Doug Liman & Tom Hardy Linked to Splinter Cell Movie

Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell

Doug Liman (director of The Bourne Identity, Swingers and the upcoming Tom Cruise sci-fi flick ‘Edge of Tomorrow’) is in talks to make a big screen version of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. The games have sold over 23 million copies since the first one was released back in 2002 and have proven popular with gamers.

Tom Hardy is reportedly in the frame for the lead role of Sam Fisher, the highly trained agent of a fictional black-ops sub-division within the NSA, dubbed “Third Echelon”, with this being one of several properties that games publisher Ubisoft have in development for a movie adaptation, others being Assassins Creed, Far Cry and Watch Dogs.

The script has been written by American Hustle scribe Eric Singer.
