A new trailer for 2014’s 300 sequel/prequel, 300: Rise of an Empire, has been released showing more of the main story of the battle between Artemisia (Eva Green) and Greek general Themistocles’ (Sullivan Stapleton). It also looks to show the backstory of Persian leader Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his rise to being the gold-wearing, blood-thirsty bad-ass.
Rise of an Empire is scripted by Zack Snyder and 300 co-writer Kurt Johnstad, with the story loosely based around Frank Miller’s Xerxes, which was the sequel he wrote for 300. Snyder has passed on directorial duties to Noam Murro, who’s sole directorial credit is 2008’s Smart People.
300: Rise of an Empire is set for release on 7th March 2014 in the US.
